Rome

Rome é uma banda Luxemburguesa liderada por Jerome Reuter. É uma banda que não se prende a um só estilo e na qual podemos encontrar tanto sonoridades Neo-Folk como Gothic.

Formaram-se em Novembro de 2005 e através da Cold Meat Industry lançaram um MCD e três CDs. Em 2009 assinaram contrato com a famosa Trisol Group Music e desde aí já lançaram dois MCDs e dois CDs, sendo o mais recente "Nos Chants Perdus" (2010) e a minha referência pessoal é "Flowers From Exile" (2009).

No dia 14 de Abril de 2011, anunciaram através do MySpace da banda que já se encontra disponível em pre-order o novo 10-inch "Our Holy Rue/The Merchant Fleet", numa edição limitada a 999 cópias e que conta com dois temas que farão parte do próximo disco, que se chamará "A Cross Of Wheat".

The 69 Eyes

The 69 Eyes apareceram na Finlândia, em 1989. Inicialmente, caracterizados pelo Glam e Hardrock, "Bump'n'Grind" (1992) foi o primeiro álbum da banda.

Dois álbuns depois, lançam "Wasting The Dawn" (1999) e a banda transforma-se em algo mais obscuro e relacionado com o gótico. Foi o primeiro disco lançado internacionalmente, pela Roadrunner Records, e que contém uma breve participação de Ville Valo (HIM).

Mas em 2000, The 69 Eyes atingem o ponto máximo da carreira até ao momento com o disco "Blessed Be", que chegou a Disco de Ouro.

"Paris Kills" (2002) é o seu sucessor. Este álbum rivalizou com "Blessed Be" tanto em qualidade como em sucesso. O single "Dance d'Amour" esteve cinco semanas em primeiro lugar nas tabelas Finlandesas e chegaram, mais uma vez, ao Disco de Ouro.

Seguiram-se álbuns como "Devils", "Angels" e "Back In Blood".

De referir o enorme sucesso que The 69 Eyes têm na Finlândia, o seu país natal.

The 69 Eyes were founded in Finland, in 1989. Initially characterized by Glam and Hardrock, "Bump'n'Grind" (1992) was the debut album.

Two albuns after, they released "Wasting The Dawn" (1999) and the band turned into something darker and related to the Gothic scene. It was the first album released internationally, on Roadrunner Records, and it contains a brief participation by Ville Valo (HIM).

But in 2000, The 69 Eyes reached the piannacle of their career so far with the record "Blessed Be", which reached Gold Record.

"Paris Kills" (2002) is its successor. This album feuded with "Blessed Be" both in quality and success. The single "Dance d'Amour" was five weeks at number one in the Finnish charts and, once again, reached Gold Record.

Then, followed albuns such as "Devils", "Angels" and "Back In Blood".

Finally, to mention the huge success that The 69 Eyes are in Finland, their homeland.

Skeletal Family

Os Skeletal Family nasceram em Keighley, Inglaterra, no final de 1982, a partir dos membros que restaram dos The Elements. Skeletal Family provém do tema "Chant Of The Ever Circling Skeletal Family", de David Bowie.

Em 1984 assinaram com a Red Rhino Records e gravaram o primeiro single, "The Night". Ainda no mesmo ano, lançaram o primeiro disco, de nome "Burning Oil". Assim, entraram em digressão com Sisters Of Mercy. Em 1985, foi a vez do álbum "Futile Combat, assim como o single "Promised Land".

Já tinham existido problemas com a line-up da banda e, depois de terem assinado com a Chrysalis Records, Anne-Marie Hurst (vocalista original) abandonou os Skeletal Family, mas o seu percurso musical não parou. A própria banda acabou por se dissolver.

Reuniram-se em 2002. Em Setembro de 2009, lançaram o disco "Songs Of Love, Hope And Despair", mas voltaram a separar-se dois meses depois.

Skeletal Family was founded in Keighley, England, in late 1982, from the remaining members of The Elements. The name Skeletal Family was took from the song "Chant Of The Ever Circling Skeletal Family", by David Bowie.

So, they went on tour with Sisters Of Mercy. In 1984, it was launched the record "Futile Combat", as well the single "Promised Land".

The line-up problems were old within the band and after they signed a deal with Chrysalis Records, Anne-Marie Hurst (the original vocalist) left Skeletal Family, but her musical career did not stop. The band itself eventually dissolved.

In 2002, the band reformed. In September 2009, they released "Songs Of Love, Hope And Despair", but they split up two months later.

Rosa Crvx (ou Rosa Crux)

Os Rosa Crvx (ou Rosa Crux) são uma banda francesa fundada, em 1984, na histórica cidade de Rouen.

O primeiro trabalho é de 1986 e chama-se "Jeux De Fers".

É uma banda peculiar que mistura Goth com Medieval e Dark Ambient. As suas letras são escritas em latim e baseadas em rituais ou crenças místicas, como por exemplo, alquimia. Segundo os reports que tenho lido na Internet e pelos vídeos que encontro no Youtube, os seus concertos são um espectáculo único.

"Noctes Insomnes" (1998) é um disco que aconselho.

Apesar de, em 2006, terem assinado pela Trisol e terem lançado "Lux In Tenebris Lucet" (2008), a box "Rosa Crvx" (2009) foi um self-releasing.

Rosa Crvx (or Rosa Crux) is a french band founded in 1984 in the historic city of Rouen.

The Cult

No seguimento dos Southern Death Cult e Death Cult, surgiram os The Cult em 1983, por Ian Astbury e Billy Duffy.

Ganharam especial atenção na Inglaterra com o álbum "Love" (1985), álbum esse que contém singles inesquecíveis: "Rain" e "She Sells Sanctuary". "Love" atingiu a 4ª posição nas tabelas Britânicas.

Em 1987, com o álbum "Electric" puseram de parte o rótulo post-punk/goth-rock e entraram pelo Hard Rock, o que os levou ao mainstream na América. Este disco foi produzido pelo conhecido Rick Rubin.

Devido ao abuso de álcool e tensão no seio da banda, os The Cult separaram-se em 1995. Voltaram ao activo em 1999 e lançaram "Beyond Good And Evil".

Foi em Lisboa, a 25 de Setembro de 2009, que os The Cult iniciaram a digressão Europeia, Love Live Tour. "Every Man And Woman Is A Star" foi o single lançado em Agosto de 2010, disponível no iTunes.

Following Southern Death Cult and Death Cult, emerged, in 1983, a band called The Cult, by Ian Astbury and Billy Duffy.

They gained attention in England with the album "Love" (1985), album that contains unforgettable singles such as "Rain" and "She Sells Sanctuary". "Love" reached the 4th position in the British charts.

In 1987, with the album "Electric" they put aside the post-punk/goth-rock style and went into the Hard Rock scene, which led them to the mainstream in America. This record was produced by the well-known Rick Rubin.

Due to alcohol and tension within the band, The Cult split in 1995. They returned to active in 1999 and released "Beyond Good And Evil".

It was in Lisbon, on September 25th 2009, that The Cult began the European agenda with their Love Live Tour. "Every Man And Woman Is A Star" was the single released in August 2010, available on iTunes.

Southern Death Cult

Na eventualidade de, no futuro, abordar The Cult, tenho que vos falar de Southern Death Cult, isto porque foi a partir desta banda que nasceram os The Cult.

Fundados em Outubro de 1981, em Bradford, Inglaterra, quando Ian Astbury chegou a essa localidade e soube de uma banda que estava a ensaiar perto de si. Ainda no mesmo mês, deram o primeiro concerto no Queen's Hall, em Bradford.

Deram bastantes concertos pela Inglaterra para promover o triple A-side single "Moya/Fatman/The Girl". Foram em digressão com Theatre Of Hate e acabaram por conseguir ser banda-suporte dos conhecidos Bauhaus no final de 1982, mas Ian Astbury acabou por dissolver a banda após um concerto em Fevereiro de 1983.

Em Abril de 83, Ian encontrou-se com Billy Duffy (The Nosebleeds e Theatre Of Hate) para formar uma nova banda, de nome Death Cult. Após o lançamento de um EP, apareceram os The Cult, mas isso é outra história.

Os demos, singles e algumas gravações ao vivo foram juntas pela editora Beggars Banquet e foi lançada a compilação "The Southern Death Cult" (1983). Esta compilação já teve várias re-edições ao longo dos anos.

In the event that, in future, I talk about The Cult, I have to talk about Southern Death Cult, because The Cult has roots in this band.

Founded in October 1981, in Bradford, England, when Ian Astbury came to this town and knew of a band that was rehearsing near him. Later the same month, they played their first show at the Queen's Hall, in Bradford.

They played a lot of shows in England to promote the triple A-side single "Moya/Fatman/The Girl". They were on tour with Theatre Of Hate and then succeeded in getting a slot opening for the well-known band Bauhaus at the end of 1982, but Ian Astbury dissolved the band after a concert in February 1983.

On April '83, Ian met Billy Duffy (The Nosebleeds and Theatre Of Hate) to form a new band under the name Death Cult. After releasing an EP, was founded The Cult, but that's another story.

The demos, singles and some live recordings were collected by Beggars Banquet label and then it was released the compilation album "The Southern Death Cult" (1983). This compilation has had several re-issues over the years.

Paralysed Age

Depois dos primeiros posts relacionados com o mainstream, chega o momento de entrarmos um pouco pelo underground. Paralysed Age, da Alemanha, fundados em 1991, é a banda que escolhi para hoje.

O primeiro trabalho remonta ao ano de 1992 e chama-se "Christened Child". Começaram como um trio até que se separaram em 1996; Michael Knust foi o elemento que ficou com Paralysed Age e em 1998 ainda deu alguns concertos com a nova colega, Andrea. A banda acabou por ser oficializada como duo depois de terem assinado contracto com a Dancing Ferret Discs, em 2001. Foi precisamente nesse ano que lançaram "Into The Ice". Para "Tragedia Nosferata" (2006), a banda inspirou-se no poeta Romeno, George Bacovia.

Vampiros, morcegos e «criaturas da noite» são os principais temas de Paralysed Age, sem esquecer Bram Stoker e Edgar Allan Poe.

After the first few posts related to the mainstream, it is time to go a little underground. Paralysed Age, from Germany, founded in 1991, is the band I picked for today.

Their debut dates back to 1992 and it is called "Christened Child". They started as a trio until they split in 1996; Michael Knust was the member who took over the band name and during 1998 he played some gigs with his new colleague, Andrea. The band was finally made official as a duo when they signed a deal with Dancing Ferret Discs, in 2001. During that year, it was released "Into The Ice". For "Tragedia Nosferata" (2006) the band was inspired by the Romanian poet George Bacovia.

Vampires, bats and «creatures of the night» are the main themes of Paralysed Age, not forgetting Bram Stoker and Edgar Allan Poe.
